I hope to provide a feeling of being seen for those who share experiences of Queerness
Within my paintings, I often undermine some aspect of heteronormativity within art historical traditions. It allows me to challenge the viewer’s preconceptions of gender expectations or presentations. It also allows me to fill a gap that has long excluded queer and trans individuals from the artistic conversation. What I am trying to portray challenges our cultural assumptions of what and who we usually see depicted in an academic style.
